The Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony celebrates becoming an adult in the Jewish community. The Bar or Bat Mitzvah leads a Shabbat morning service and is called to the Torah in recognition of his/her commitment to a Jewish life. This ceremony is an important milestone and is the result of significant study and work by the Bar/Bat Mitzvah with the Rabbi and in our religious school.

Rabbi Samuels has recently completed a detailed guide to help guide families through the exciting process of becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. Get started by downloading Beth Israel's new B'nei Mitzvah Handbook. Questions? Contact Rabbi Samuels through the Beth Israel office, (360) 733-8890.

Mark the occasion!

In celebration of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, imagine the name of your son or daughter on a brick on the Legacy Path to the Future surrounding the new synagogue. Your pride in your child's accomplishments will be remembered forever. For a donation of $500, your child's name can be inscribed in the following manner:

        IN HONOR OF THE
  BAR (OR BAT) MITZVAH OF
         HIS OR HER NAME
DATE OF BAR (OR BAT) MITZVAH
       BY RABBI SAMUELS

You can contact the synagogue office or purchase online (payment plans are available).

Now is the perfect time to donate a brick to take advantage of a matching fund that has been generously offered by an anonymous donor through 2015.
