Who Does Wine Better – Washington or France?

4 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024

Join CBI’s in-house wine guide, Holly Witte, as she sets a fun experiment for us. We will taste 6 wines – 4 whites and two reds –  half from France and half from Washington State. Will you prefer the Sauvignon Blanc imported from Tours along the Loire River, or the one from nearby Yakima Valley? We will taste Viogniers, Sauvignon Blancs, and Syrahs.

In this workshop Holly will share key points about each region’s wine industry and how factors like climate, soil, and varying winemaking traditions all affect the final products we drink. And to make things more fun we will be tasting 6 amazing cheeses – three from France and three from Washington State. Sommelier and professional wine writer Zach Geballe from Seattle will be selecting the cheeses to match our wines.

This tasting is limited to 40 people and is only open to CBI members and their friends. To register, please check the Timbrel (or contact the CBI office). The cost is $36 per person. Registration deadline is September 2. Each participant will receive a 10% discount coupon at local Seifert & Jones wine merchants. Weather permitting, we will be gathering outside on the patio (in case of rain, in the Social Hall).
